Coronavirus Update as of November 19th

INDOOR SERVICES HAVE BEEN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED following Orange County’s reversion to the most restrictive tier (Purple).

Saint Basil hopes to continue in person services in December.
Please join us this Sunday starting at 9:45 a.m. on Facebook Live with the virtual lighting of the candles and the Divine Liturgy starting at 10:00 a.m.

We also offer virtual candle lighting so that an actual candle can be lit and a prayer done by Fr. Bill on Sundays.

Coronavirus Update as of July 16th

Dear St. Basil Community,

As many of you already know, Governor Newsom issued a statewide order once again shutting down churches and businesses in 29 counties, including Orange County. Therefore, St. Basil must close our doors for communal worship once again. We will continue streaming services online via Facebook Live ONLY for at least the following two Sundays. We will continue to monitor developments here in Orange County very closely and determine how to best proceed in the following weeks.

Thank you to our Covid Task Force, Parish Council and Father Bill for your efforts in trying to bring our community together during this time.

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
1 Corinthians 16:13

Fr Bill

Our Church will be open for communal worship beginning on July 12th

Dear St. Basil Community,

With the blessing of our bishop, Metropolitan Gerasimos, our Church will be open for communal worship to our parish families beginning on July 12th, 2020.
In order to conform with social distancing best practices, space to attend communal worship at St Basil will be limited. Anyone who wishes to attend Divine Liturgy on Sundays is required to RSVP at Reservations will be available beginning on the Monday before that Sunday’s liturgy and will remain open until we have reached capacity. If you have any questions, please call the Church office (949) 542-3345. We will also continue to broadcast all the St. Basil liturgical services via Facebook Live for those who wish to worship from home.
During the past 6 weeks, our St. Basil Covid Task Force has been meeting to organize the safest possible best practices that are now in place. Please note that nothing is perfect and this will be an evolving practice. Most important, everyone must consider their own health status before committing to come to Church. Metropolitan Gerasimos suggests that anyone with serious health issues or who is in a compromised health category should remain home. Additionally, anyone who has recently been sick should not attend church, as well as those living in their household, until they have quarantined for the suggested time as per our Government regulations.
What should we expect when we return to Church?

  1. Greeters will meet you in the courtyard and guide you through our safety measures/procedures.
  2. Social distancing will be practiced with marked walkways and assigned seating.
  3. Each person’s temperature will be taken before allowed to enter Church.
  4. Everyone must wear a mask during the entire Divine Liturgy (inside & in our courtyard).
  5. Everyone must sanitize their hands with hand sanitizer that we will be providing.
  6. One family at a time will be allowed in the narthex to light candles.
  7. Icons should be venerated by bowing. Please do not kiss icons.
  8. Holy Communion will be distributed following the Sermon. We have volunteers to help you and answer questions when you arrive.
  9. A plexiglass partition has been installed between the chanters and the congregation.

Once again, we ask for your continued patience and perseverance as we navigate together these uncharted waters. We look forward to seeing you and praying the Divine Liturgy with you.

May God grant our community healing and strength during this pandemic.
