The role of our Community Outreach Ministry is to enable St. Basil programs that provide support (food, clothing & household items) for families in need within our San Juan Capistrano community. Our goal is to work with other ministries to support these efforts. During 2023, we fed, clothed and helped over 3000 people in our community through Spring and Thanksgiving Grocery Giveaways coordinated through the CUSD school system and in conjunction with Philoptochos, Greek Dance and YAL. In December, we hosted our first annual Christmas Family-to-Family Giving program with Philoptochos and with the Kinoshita Elementary bilingual program. We were truly blessed to provide 23 families, including 145 adults and children who live in Section 8 housing, gifts on their "wish lists." A truly impactful and joyous way to support so many families who struggled last year! The Community Outreach Team is working with our St. Basil Youth Groups to serve the children of Laura’s House, marking our first annual Lenten All Youth Service Project.
